Q6

I used a professional camera to take my photos, this camera made my images look more defined. I used settings such as manual focus, zoom and flash but I wanted to make most of my images all have natural lighting. If I had an opportunity to re take my shoots I would experiment with shutter release and the panoramic settings.
I used blogger to show my development and ideas. I researched on different magazines to find the conventions of a magazine. By doing this I was able to understand how to create a magazine front cover, contents page and a double page spread. This then lead to me creating flat plans for my magazine which helped me construct my magazine.
Blogger also allowed me to get feed back from peers and people that I was aiming my magazine to. This allowed me to develop my magazine to increase its appeal to my audience.
I also used photoshop to edit and create my magazine pages. I used tools such as blemish, text, paint bucket , etc. If I did this project again I would like to familiar myself with other editing sites such as in design which I found out most magazine creators use to create their magazine.

My target audience is aimed at teenagers and adults aged between 16-30. I believe that this age group is more interested in music which makes them more ideal to sell my product to.
I would be aiming my magazine at both males and females. Both males and females listen to reggae/dancehall. My front cover looks very masculine with my male model and "rusta colours"
I did a class survey on how many people listen to reggae/dancehall and i found 60% of my class listen to reggae/dancehall 45% of them being males and 25% of them females and the other 40% was other genre's.

Improved Front Cover

I move the banner down so it does detract the attention from the reader. I did this because i believe that the main image is very strong because of the editing with the smoke coming out of his head.
I made the artists names in the sell lines bigger and on top of the sub heads. I believe this little tweak would attract the readers eyes because they are well known artists within the reggae/dancehall industry which will make the reader want to read about them.

first draft of front cover

This is a first draft of my front cover for my reggae magazine.
WWW: the main image is very strong with the smoke edit.
EBI: if i remove the sub images and use a banner that goes across the page with words only.
change the font  because the font looks like it is for a rap magazine.

Flat Plan For Front Page

Subheading Ideas

"That strong mother doesn't tell her cub, Son, stay weak so the wolves can get you. She says, Toughen up, this is reality we are living in."

"A woman is like a tea bag - you can't tell how strong she is until you put her in hot water."

"Think like a queen. A queen is not afraid to fail. Failure is another steppingstone to greatness."

"When women go wrong, men go right after them."
